Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

“I want to go to Chicago.”
This was the response I received from a teenager living in Gary, Indiana when I asked the question, “What do you want to do when you grow up?”. This child’s dream was simply to live elsewhere. Somewhere they had never visited but desired to go. A place they assumed offered better opportunities than what they were presently experiencing. This city, which broke the boundaries of their imagination was less than an hour away. For some, it was simple. Get in a car, drive 45 minutes to Chicago and seek employment. Crossing the bridge into Illinois was a dream and they lacked the knowledge on how to achieve it.
Silver Linings, Incorporated is a Georgia based Non Profit Organization established to provide mentoring, basic life and leadership training to under-served teenage girls in the Metropolitian Atlanta area. Our T.H.R.I.V.E (Talented Hardworking Responsible Individuals Valuing Excellence) Leadership Program is designed specifically for High School Juniors and Senior girls.
We are seeking girls that have a dream, but don’t know how to achieve it. Someone that deserves an opportunity but she’s often overlooked. She may be from a single parent home, have a GPA of 2.0 or simply lack the financial resources to participate in this type of program. We’re here to help her reach her dreams. Why? Because she deserves this!
Our program will cover topics such as Higher and Alternative Education, Basic Banking, Credit Worthiness, Job Applications, Interviewing Skills & Tips, Entrepreneurship, Self Esteem and much more. We believe every teenage girl deserves an opportunity to enjoy the life she envisions. We want girls with a Dream, Desire and Determination.
The application process will be open for six (6) weeks beginning on Monday, April 15th thru Friday, May 31st. Our next class will consist of eight (8) deserving girls. We will work closely with these young ladies and their parents for a period of six months, to identify their dreams while providing the tools to help them achieve their goals.
